Meditations—points
to ponder
Some of our thoughts, feelings, intentions
and plans lie on the conscious surface
of the world within us. These are the
ones we are aware of.
They may be fairly obvious to others as well as to
ourselves.
But these surface aspects are also a good indication of the general
nature
of the unconscious spiritual depth
within, of what sort of things make it up.
But the thoughts, feelings and
intentions we are aware of only a small part
of those in our depths. The hidden
dimension of each human life
is not visible to others, nor is it fully
graspable even by ourselves.
We usually know very little about the things that
move in our own soul—
the deepest level of our life.
What is within is
astonishingly complex and subtle—even devious. [!!]
It has a life of its own.
The psalmist cries out for God’s help in dealing with himself …
Psalm 51:10 (ESV) — 10 Create in me a clean heart, O God,
and renew a right spirit within me.
Psalm
51:10 (The Message) — 10 God,
make a fresh start in me,
shape a Genesis week from the chaos of my life.
