Jehovah Shalom: LORD
our Peace—
Isaiah 54:10 (NRSV) — 10 For the mountains may depart and the hills be
removed,
but My Steadfast Love shall not depart from you,
and my Covenant of Peace
shall not be removed,
says the Lord, who has compassion on you.
We conclude
our short foray into encountering the Names of God with
Jehovah Shalom—God of
Peace.
I give you today’s reflection as a special blessing upon you all …
Shalom means completeness/soundness and well-being.
It also mean material prosperity, physical safety and
spiritual well-being
all of which arise out of God’s Righteousness and Truth.
In Christ our peace has come.
When we first believe we have peace with God—
the
removal of sin’s enmity through the sacrifice of Christ.
Inward peace then
follows, unhindered by the world’s strife.
Peace in our inner-man and outer relationships
are part of the purpose
for which Christ died.
Such peace is indicative of the
work of God’s Holy Spirit work,
however we must also be an active partner in
this peace-making,
not merely as the elimination of discord,
but as the harmony
and true functioning of the body of Christ.
John 14:27 (NRSV) Peace I leave with you; my peace I
give to you.
I do not give to you as the world gives.
Do not let your hearts be
troubled, and do not let them be afraid.
John 16:33 (NRSV) I have said this to you, so that in
me you may have peace.
In the world you face persecution.
But take courage; I
have conquered the world!”
Tomorrow we will begin a short series on the Armour of God,wherein I will share some of the exciting discoveries I have made in ongoing my journeying with Jesus.
I leave you with one of my favourite blessings ...
1 Thessalonians 5:23 (NRSV) — 23 May the God of peace himself
sanctify you entirely; and may your spirit and soul and body be kept sound and
blameless
at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
