The
Finger of God
Exodus 31:18 (NLT) When the
Lord finished speaking with Moses on Mount Sinai,
he gave him the two stone
tablets inscribed with the terms of the covenant,
written by the finger of God.
Luke 11:20 (NRSV) But if it is
by the finger of God that I cast out the demons,
then the kingdom of God has
come to you.
Luke 11:20
suggests that “the finger of God” signifies the Holy Spirit,
Who wrote the Word
of God …
2 Timothy 3:16–17 (NLT) All
Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us
what is true and to make
us realize what is wrong in our lives.
It corrects us when we are wrong and
teaches us to do what is right.
17 God
uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.
2 Peter 1:19–21 (NLT) Because
of that experience, we have even greater confidence
in the message proclaimed
by the prophets.
You must pay close attention to what they wrote,
for their
words are like a lamp shining in a dark place—
until the Day dawns, and Christ
the Morning Star shines in your hearts.
20 Above
all, you must realize that no prophecy in Scripture ever came from
the
prophet’s own understanding, 21 or from human initiative.
No, those prophets were moved by the Holy
Spirit, and they spoke from God.
Holy Spirit
now writes it on the hearts of those who trust Christ and worship Him …
2 Corinthians 3:2–3 (NLT) — 2 The only letter of recommendation we need is you yourselves.
Your lives
are a letter written in our hearts; everyone can read it and
recognize our good
work among you. 3 Clearly, you are a letter from Christ
showing the result of our ministry
among you.
This “letter” is written not with pen and ink, but with the Spirit
of the living God.
It is carved not on tablets of stone, but on human hearts.
